In short: An improved flagship

The Matrice 350 RTK is equipped with advanced sensors and an accurate RTK module for precision positioning. This flagship model from DJI is the result of several minor improvements over the three-year-old Matrice 300. The device is odesigned to meet the needs of the business market, offering impressive performance and flexibility for different industries.

What are the main features of the DJI Matrice 350 RTK?

In this preview, we go into some of the improvements.

DJI Matrice 350 RTK

Obstacle detection

One of the new features is an alert if one of the arms is not correctly extended and locked. The integrated FPV camera is equipped with night vision capabilities, enabling safe night flights. The drone still has obstacle detection in six directions, but now also offers the option to install a CSM radar, which warns of small overhanging obstacles such as tree branches or power wires.

Batteries

The Matrice 350 RTK uses the new TB65 batteries, which are hot swappable. This allows multiple flights in a row without switching off the drone. Each battery can be charged up to 400 times. To charge the batteries, DJI offers the new BS65 Battery Station, in which the batteries are automatically brought to 50% charge when not in use.

Compatible with existing payload

The DJI Matrice 350 RTK can be used with all existing Matrice 300 payloads. That is, the Zenmuse H20, Zenmuse H20N, Zenmuse P1 and Zenmuse L1. It is also possible to install third-party payloads, such as spotlights, speakers and multispectral cameras.

Payload configurations

The Matrice 350 RTK offers flexibility in payload configurations by allowing multiple payloads to be mounted simultaneously, both on top and underneath the drone. In the most elaborate setup, two payloads can be mounted under the drone, along with one payload on top. The maximum payload capacity is 2.7 kg.

Control: RC Pro Plus

DJI RC Pro Plus controller

The DJI Matrice 350 RTK is controlled using the DJI RC Plus controller. This controller, which is also used for the DJI Inspire 3 and DJI M30(T), features a large built-in 7-inch display with a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits. With an IP54 rating, the controller can withstand rain showers. DJI Pilot 2 is the software platform that runs on the controller and provides control of all functions. By default, the DJI RC Plus offers the ability to be used in a Dual Operator setup. For data transfer, the RC Plus supports the O3 protocol. Thanks to four antennas, the connection is more stable than ever before. The maximum range is about eight kilometres.

What training do I need for this device?

With the DJI Matrice 350 RTK, you will fly in subcategory A3 of the open category by default. This means you need to keep a minimum distance of 150 metres from buildings, industry and recreational areas. With the mandatory A1-A3 certificate, you can then move forward. In practice, however, you will want to fly this aircraft in the specific category. Then, in addition to the full EU Drone Licence, you will need our basic training.

Conclusion

Do you need industrial-grade inspections? Do you want to be able to determine your own payload(s)? Don't have a DJI Matrice 300 yet? Then this DJI Matrice 350 RTK is definitely worth considering. Just keep in mind that you need to buy the Zenmuse cameras separately.
