Frequently asked questions

  • When is the specific category mandatory?

You will fly in the specific category if you cannot perform the operation in the open category and it is not too risky for the certified category.

  • Does a company need permission from the NAA?

Yes, only pilot training is not sufficient to fly legally in the specific category. The operator (company, organization), that will conduct flights, needs authorization from a NAA first.

  • Do I need practical training?

Yes, EU legislation requires flight skills regarding the drone pilot. For flying drones in a EASA STS-01, PDRA-S01 or VLOS flight. However there is no EASA practical certificate. In the Netherlands you need our practical training and this can be the case in other EU countries as well.
