The budget version of the DJI Mini 3 Pro has been launched: DJI Mini 3. What makes this device worth considering buying?
What are the features on the DJI Mini 3?
Key features on the DJI Mini 3 are:
- Obstacle sensors
- Internal memory
- Improved battery life
Like the Pro version, the DJI Mini 3 can rotate the camera vertically. The DJI Mini 3 lets you shoot videos in 4K HDR at up to 30 fps. Photos are shot in up to 12 megapixels. The camera has a wide-angle function and can take up to 180-degree panoramas. This gives you the full view of your surroundings. Thanks to QuickTransfer, you can quickly share images with others.
The DJI Mini 3 is perfect for beginner drone pilots. The drone is friendly priced compared to other DJI drones and easy to carry around. The device has obstacle sensors. However, these are only located on the bottom of the drone.
Contrary to what some reviews and reviews present, the DJI Mini 3 has internal memory on board. If you forget an SD card or if it is full, the device switches to 1.2GB of available storage.
EU Drone Licence
The DJI Mini 3 weighs less than 250 grams. It is not compulsory to get an EU Drone Licence (A1-A3 certificate and A2 certificate) as a pilot. We do find that some owners of a mini still like to know a bit about drone rules before they start flying. Even if you later switch to a heavier aircraft, it is an idea to get something anyway.
Check out our training for the A1-A3 certificate.
Improved battery life
The DJI Mini 3 also has improved battery life. The device can fly in the air for 38 or 51 minutes (with a slightly more expensive battery). So plenty of time to get the perfect shot.
The DJI Mini 3 does not offer a FocusTrack function, unlike the DJI Mini 3 Pro. The number of features is limited, as the Mini 3 is a budget version.
The drone works with the separately available DJI RC smart controller. Furthermore, the Mini 3 also works with the RC-N1 remote controller, which requires your smartphone to view camera images.
Conclusion: Good budget drone
With its small size (148 x 90 x 62 mm) when folded, it fits almost in any backpack and, weighing 248 grams, the drone is easy to carry.
The DJI Mini 3 - as a standalone device - is cheaper than the DJI Mini 3 Pro and worth considering if you are looking for your first, not too expensive device.
